BIOMETRIC SCREENINGS (QUEST)

PROTECT WHAT MATTERS MOST – GET YOUR BIOMETRIC SCREENING

Preventive care is a powerful step on your well-being journey, so you can be at your best for all the special moments ahead. Even if you feel fine, getting preventive care may help you identify risks early.

That’s why Abbott offers you and your covered spouse/domestic partner a free, confidential biometric screening. It’s designed to give you a detailed picture of your health, so you know how to take action for your well-being.

You have between January 13 and November 30, 2025 to complete your biometric screening.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SCREENING

Make sure you’re prepared for your biometric screening so you can get the best results. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Appointments are required – no walk-ins will be allowed.
  • Allow 15-20 minutes for your appointment.
  • Your height, weight, waist measurement, blood pressure and a blood sample will be taken. The blood draw will be venipuncture.
  • You must fast 9-12 hours prior to the screening.
  • Take prescribed medications as you normally would.
  • Drink plenty of water before your appointment as this helps with your blood draw, but do not have any other beverages (like black regular or decaf coffee, juice, or soda).
  • For Patient Service Center appointments, bring your driver’s license to your appointment. The name on your ID will need to match the information in your Quest account in order to attend your appointment. You will not need to provide your insurance card even when the check-in process asks for one.

TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL VENIPUNCTURE BLOOD DRAW

  • Make sure that you are well hydrated by drinking water prior to your collection.
  • When possible, have your blood collected from your non-dominant arm.
  • Do not open and close your fist while being collected.
  • Once the needle is removed, use the fingers on the opposite hand to put pressure on the collection site. Do not bend your arm.
  • Leave the bandage on for at least an hour, longer if you are on an anti-coagulant or tend to bleed for a longer period of time.
  • Do not do any heavy lifting with that arm for several hours.
  • Bruising is a possibility and is to be expected. You can use an ice pack or cold compress if there is swelling.
  • Consult your physician if there is excessive bruising or pain and report it to Quest at 855-623-9355.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR SCREENING

Quest will send an email 3-5 days after your screening with an update on when your results will be ready to view in your Quest account and your Castlight account. You will also receive your results in the mail 3-4 weeks after your appointment.

IT’S FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL

There is no cost for you or your covered spouse/domestic partner to get the health screening. The screening is completely confidential and managed by Abbott’s wellness partners. Abbott never sees individual results.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

All U.S. employees are eligible to create a Castlight account and get a free biometric screening, regardless of enrollment in an Abbott medical plan. If your spouse/domestic partner is covered on an Abbott medical plan, they can create an account, too!

Newly hired U.S. employees and their spouses/domestic partners are eligible to create a Castlight account. However, you will need to first complete your 2025 New Hire Enrollment within your first 31 days of your date of hire. Castlight will receive your eligibility after submitting your elections. You will be able to create an account approximately 7 business days after that date. If you do not receive the “Your Account is Ready” email from Castlight after 31 days from your date of hire or the date of being added to Abbott Medical Coverage, please contact Castlight Support at 844-711-7113.
